IDFA DocLab at SXSW 2010 in Austin

For the second year in a row, IDFA DocLab has been invited to host a program on interactive documentary.

This year’s program, taking place on Saturday 13 March in Austin, Texas, will bring together Joel Ronez (Arte France), Hugues Sweeney (National Film Board of Canada) and IDFA DocLab curator Caspar Sonnen.

Over the last years, Ronez and Sweeny have been key players within the webdocumentary genre, each involved with different interactive documentary projects that helped define the genre. Sonnen started the IDFA DocLab program in 2007, showcasing new media documentaries within the context of the world’s largest documentary film festival. Together they’ll discuss new developments in webdocumentary production, financing and exhibition.

Later that same afternoon, the panelists will showcase new webdocumentary projects live on the big screen in the Hideout. The screening will include new projects from the NFB (presented by Hugues Sweeney) and the US premiere of Prison Valley, the latest webdocumentary from Arte France (presented by Joel Ronez).
