Who is blogging?

Nov 20, 2008 by Yuri Engelhardt and Raul Nino Zambrano

This is Raul Niño Zambrano and Yuri Engelhardt blogging for Doclab. Let us briefly introduce ourselves. We are both connected to the Department of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam, and we are interested in information visualization, new media projects, and documentary cinema. A recent publication of ours is “Diagrams for the Masses: Raising Public Awareness – From Neurath to Gapminder and Google Earth.” In that investigation we explore how some state-of-the-art online visualization projects are related to the work done about 70 years ago by the vibrant philosopher-sociologist Otto Neurath.

In the coming days we will be blogging about some of our favorite information visualization projects, we will report on he Doclab and IDFA programs, and we will hopefully start some discussions here about the uses and misuses of information visualization in relation to documentary cinema.
